RALEIGH, N.C. – Raleigh-based non-profit Global Hope India (GHI) is jump starting the Christmas cheer with a dash of Indian flair as it hosts “Christmas in India” at downtown Raleigh’s SPY Bar and Lounge on Thursday, December 1.   The year-end fundraiser and meet and greet treats attendees to a unique experience, blending typical nuances of Christmas—to include a live Santa—with examples of sub-continent culture, such as an Indian shopping experience.

With 100 percent of proceeds from the ticketed event going towards sustaining the organization’s village development initiatives in rural India, Kevin White, GHI founder and president, said the Christmas in India event is a festive way of raising awareness for the needs of some of the most destitute people in the world.

“While we’ve had a presence in India for the last 6 years, the last 12 months have been unmatched in terms of productivity,” White said.  “From expanding our U.S. and India-based staffs and infrastructures to breaking ground on multiple village development initiatives, GHI is realizing the fruits of its labors.  Christmas in India is an opportunity to meet our current and prospective partners and share with them firsthand the impact their sacrifices are having on the impoverished people of rural India.”
Multimedia from recent village development trips are planned and dessert and coffee bars will be included with admission, which also allows for participation in a silent auction benefiting GHI.

“We’ve really tried to incorporate some of the great sentiments of Christmas early in the holiday season in a festive environment to highlight the strides GHI has made in bringing lasting hope and immeasurable change to the people of India,” GHI Event Coordinator Becca Taylor said.  “We hope the public will come out to see what we are doing globally and how we have fun locally.”

GHI’s “Christmas in India” event on Thursday, December 1 at the SPY Bar and Lounge in downtown Raleigh will run from  7 to 9 p.m. with valet parking at the door.  Tickets are $15 and can be acquired at the door or online at www.globalhopeindia.org/christmas/.  Children 12 and under are admitted free.  For more information on “Christmas in India” contact GHI Event Coordinator Becca Taylor at becca@globalhopeindia.org.

Behind a needs-based ministry designed to bring housing, water, latrines, and sustainable agriculture, among others, to the poorest villages in India, GHI hopes to bring the message of hope in Jesus Christ to millions of unreached Indian nationals.  For more information on GHI’s efforts in India, please visit www.globalhopeindia.org  or contact Kevin White at kevin@globalhopeindia.org.
