Team India Update by Jake Taylor

So I have finally found an internet cafe!  I have some down time today as one of our team members is sick, so I have stayed back with her.  We spent the morning giving her IV fluids and medications so please pray for Erin’s improvement.

So far, it has been a very eventful trip.  We arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday.  After resting, for the day we visited the orphanage in Hyderabad.  This day is always a highlight as most of the team had the opportunity to meet the children for the first time.  They were singing, smiling, and joyful as always.  Man I love those kids!

We then boarded a sleeper train for a 10 hour overnight trip Monday night.  This is when Erin became sick.  She gets motion sickness very easily and this train felt as if we were riding an 80 mph boat on the middle of the ocean.  Renee, Chris, and Rebecca were about the only people who got good sleep on the train.  I however, had a bunk across from an Indian stranger who snored louder than I’ve ever heard.  This resulted in me getting absolutely no sleep.  I did finish a great book that I highly recommend “Radical” by David Platt.  This book really pumped me up to complete the needed work in India.

Yesterday morning (Sunday) we were welcomed into a church in the local village.  Worshipping with them was a great experience.  Chris taught on prayer and did an excellent job.  We then went to a nearby pond for baptisms.  Afterwards, we attempted to rest but this was more successful for some than others.   We then went to the gospel meeting last night where I had the privelege to speak the living gospel into the lives of hundreds of Indian people.  Several accepted Jesus for the first time.  What a humbling and joyful experience that was!  I can’t stop smiling.

The team today is in the village encouraging over 200 native pastors.  These men and women are the laborers for the gospel in India.  They are the real missionaries.  They give up so much for the sake of the gospel.  What incredible, humble servants they are.  Our efforts on this trip are a short term way of support.  They need so much more support from their brothers and sisters in Christ in America!

So, the team is doing well including Erin.  She is in great spirits and has really been a trooper through all of this.  To her family, rest assured, we are making her health a top priority and seeing that she is given the best care possible.  The IV fluids should jump start her road back to rehydration.  Please continue to pray.

To everyone else in America, thank you for your support and prayers.  Please join the team in prayers for Erin and for tonight as I will speak the gospel again tonight.
